No pants in the subway

In 2009 Washington hosted the ninth annual flash mob “No pants in the subway”. It is quite obvious what it was all about and there is no need to explain the gist of this parade, but I’m a bit puzzled and the question “Why?” rises inevitably. At first I thought this is some sort of protest, but I couldn’t come up with an idea what they are protesting for and what point they are trying to prove. This action covered 44 cities in 16 countries worldwide and they had a policy that if a police officer came up and asked them to put on their pants they should do that with a polite smile and answer that they simply forgot to put on their pants that morning.
