Young photographer and artist, Kelly A. McCollam, came up with a really creative and original method for recreating famous and world-known paintings of Van Gogh. She uses common kitchen ingredients, spices and food color to make these amazing and colorful reproductions. Salt cellar is apparently a thing of past. Now, when you host a fancy diner party, you can just put one of Kelly’s pieces on the table. That way you’ll get both spices and table decoration covered.

The Most Striking Examples of Kiss in Art

Posted in Arts by sanela | Tags: art, kiss, kiss in art, modern and contemporary art, paintings, pieces of art

It is impossible to go through the history of art, from the earliest times to modern and contemporary art, and not to take notice of the immense amount of pieces of art that feature that marvelous moment when two universes, two complex series of spiritual and emotional realms connect in the sweetest encounter in the world - the kiss. It is the most powerful, yet fragile touch, the expression of true binding between two people, that surrender in a complete belief. Therefor, there are so many artists that try to capture that magnificent moment. Here goes the list of the most striking and impressive pieces of art, the best kisses in art that are the most successful at passing off the magic of those few celestial flashes.

1. Gustav Klimt

The Kiss (original Der Kuss) was painted by Gustav Klimt, and is probably his most famous work. He began work on it in 1907 and it is the highpoint of his so-called ‘Golden Period’, when he painted a number of works in a similar style. It depicts a couple embracing, their bodies largely hidden by elaborate robes decorated in a style that bears little relation to any historical textile designs.

The most expensive paintings

Posted in Arts by sanela | Tags: artwork, expensive, paintings, valuable

This is a list of the highest known prices paid for paintings. Since that time sales of the most valuable paintings have usually been made at auctions, though that had by no means always been the case before, and the list below still shows some “private sales”, including the three most expensive. The current record price was paid for a work from No. 5, 1948 by Jackson Pollock sold at US$140 million in 2006, (approx. $150.6 million in CPI-adjusted 2010 US dollars)

Weapon art

Posted in Arts by sanela | Tags: Arts, Creative, paintings, weapons

Have a look at these interesting and original art works that are made not by a paint brush, or a pencil, but by weapons. It’s nice to see that not all weapons are used to kill people, but some of them are used to create art. It’s a pretty neat idea, and it sends a beautiful massage. It would be great if all guns could be used only this way and in this purpose.

Have a look at these beautiful and inspiring paintings and illustrations with strongly present Asian influence made by an artist that presents herself under the name “Sybile”. I searched her online and found info about her on Flickr, Deviantart and Facebook. Here’s what she says about herself and her work:
“Painter and illustrator, I am born and live in Brussels, Belgium where I have studied drawing and painting. My favorite technique is acrylic paint on canvas. My world is made of porcelain dolls floating through in times and fashions. A strong Asian influence comes from my fascination of the samurais and geisha’s era, cinema and Japanese anime. On top of painting, I work on illustrations books and art cards.”
You can find more of her amazing work here on her website. Enjoy!
