There are so many interesting and wonderful places in the world that everyone should have a chance to visit at least once in their lives. It would be the best if you could do most of your traveling while still young, because then you can get the full experience. Still, most of the people start traveling when they retire and step down from their position in the office. Then they feel like they finally have enough time for all the things they were putting off, because they worked so hard, but then as it usually turns out, they don’t have enough energy anymore and even if they went and visited some place they planned long ago, they wouldn’t really have enough zeal to climb the rocks, visit Buddhist temples, part all night long, etc.

Luxurious Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona

In the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona a new luxurious hotel named Mandarin Oriental is built. This amazing building is work of a well-known and talented artist-designer Patricia Urquiola. Luxurious hotel for the famous and titled guests is located at the center of shopping and entertainment district of Barcelona on Passeig de Gràcia. The hotel includes 98 rooms, a spa, which occupies 1,000 square meters, some chic restaurants and a wide area on the roof of the hotel, where the huge pool is located.

Museum of Cats in Malaysia

The museum of cats is located in downtown Kuching in the Malaysian part of Borneo. Kuching in Malaysia just means “cat”. The locals are very fond of this remarkable animal. They love cats to such an extent that they made monuments of them all over the city. And in the mid 20th century they even created a special museum for cats. Cycling around the world

Here goes the story of many years of wandering around the world by Salvador con Jose Rodriguez, a high school gym teacher from Spain and the images of all the exciting places he visited while riding his bike. It is really amazing how far he reached considering the fact that he never used any other transportation beside his bicycle. I couldn’t have reached the next town on my bike, but I guess he had years of training before his trip. Have a look at these great photos, the moving memories of his difficult, exhausting and still fulfilling voyage.

Steve Winter, well known photographer for National Geographic was named the wild life photographer of the year. Besides from taking photos of animals and beautiful nature landscapes, he makes astonishing photography of the people on his exciting journeys to the different parts of the world. Have a look at this great and breathtaking photo gallery below and you’ll see his obvious talent and why he received this prestigious award. I have to admit that I’m a bit jealous of his job. He actually has what is in my opinion a dream job! He gets to travel around the world and learn about different cultures and styles of life while taking photos, and he gets payed for doing that!

Unusual house in Vienna

Yunak Evleri Hotel in Turkey

Yunak Evleri is a well known hotel in Cappadocia, Turkey. Early twentieth century in color by Albert Khan

Albert Kahn was a banker and French philanthropist. He was born Abraham Kahn at Marmoutier, Bas-Rhin, France on 3 March 1860, into a Jewish family, one of 5 children of his parents, Louis and Babette Kahn. He died at Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France on 14 November 1940,

In 1879 Kahn became a bank clerk in Paris, but studied for a degree in the evenings. His tutor was Henri Bergson, who remained his friend all his life. He graduated in 1881 and continued to mix in intellectual circles, making friends with Auguste Rodin and Mathurin Méheut. In 1892 Kahn became a principal associate of the Goudchaux Bank, which was regarded as one of most important financial houses of Europe.

In 1893 Kahn acquired a large property in Boulogne-Billancourt, where he established a unique garden containing a variety of garden styles including English, Japanese, a rose garden and a conifer wood. This became a meeting place for French and European intelligentsia until the 1930s when due to the Wall Street Crash of 1929, Kahn became bankrupt. At that time the garden was turned into a public park in which Kahn would still take walks. Kahn died during the Nazi occupation of France.

The Fish Spa in Turkey

This might seem weird, but it is a medical procedure known by the name ichthyotherapy, and this sort of fish is called “Doctor Fish“. The idea is that this specific specie of fish eats only rotten flesh and meat and only the infected parts of skin and that way it helps healing. Now, it all makes sense in theory, but if you ask me it’s simply nasty! Somehow it doesn’t seem right to me, nor very hygienic! What do you think?

Taxi on a world tour

Strange treats

I hate bugs, insects, worms and all those creatures. I can’t stand bare looking at them and the thought of actually eating them makes my stomach go upside down. I don’t know how anyone can do that. If they were at least somehow camouflaged and I didn’t knew they are there maybe, just maybe, I would manage to swallow it, but this way while looking at them, it’s unbearable in my opinion. You should probably be a great adventurist and say to yourself that you want to try EVERYTHING in your life. But, even then, I can’t imagine myself doing something like that.

Is it a bird, is it a plane…

Now, this strange looking vehicle really makes me wonder. It’s obviously originally been a bus, but then someone decided that it would be much better if he turned it into a dredger. But somewhere in the middle of the work he remembered that he also needs the bus for transportation. Here you can see clearly the creativity of the Chinese people. It’s sort of 2 in 1 product, like a shampoo.

Usually when we go on a trip or travel to some well know touristic destination, we all take somewhat the same photos. But it is the true artist who manages to see beyond the obvious and catch existing beauty that lies within. These photos of India look like they have been taken by the hand of an optimist, or simply someone who is able to look a bit deeper. I wish we could use photoshop in the real life to get rid of the poverty, illness, and all the problems that we have and that we live with today. But, it remains the privilege of a photographer.
