Vintage postcards and photos

Have a look at some awesome vintage postcards and photography. It’s really amazing, like a time travel. I was wondering how come old stuff is so pricey and has such a great value, and I realized it’s connected to our inevitable tendency to idealize the past and look at it with nostalgia. This is why we see things that aren’t really there, but that we think and wish there were. Vintage futurism

It’s great and a bit funny looking at these images and seeing how people imagined future and what where their expectations for the twenty first century and the new millennium. Did we managed to meet their expectations or would they be disappointed if they could somehow see what the world looks like today? The most interesting thing in my opinion is the fact that some things were actually foreseen in the past. It means that sci-fi isn’t all fudge and craziness, but there are some pretty good ideas too.
